RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. has officially announced that it has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Newspace India Limited (NSIL). This project involves the supply, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance related to the upgradation of IT infrastructure for NSIL. The estimated value of this order is Rs. 31,21,42,210/- (excluding tax), and it is scheduled to be executed by January 31, 2027.
Newspace India Limited (NSIL), incorporated in 2019, is a wholly owned Government of India company under the Department of Space and serves as the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Its primary objectives include scaling up private sector participation in Indian space programs, producing and marketing space-based services, and transferring space technologies to the industry.
RailTel is a “Navratna” Central Public Sector Enterprise and one of the largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers in India, operating a vast pan-India optical fiber network. Established in 2000, the company focuses on modernizing telecommunication systems for train control, operations, and safety, while also providing broadband, multimedia, and data center services. Throughout 2025, RailTel continued its growth trajectory by securing various contracts, including a notable order from the Kerala Fiber Optic Network and receiving the SCOPE Eminence Award in the Digital Transformation category. The company has also established strategic partnerships, such as a five-year collaboration with Microsoft to drive AI innovation in the government sector.
In its financial performance for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25, RailTel reported a robust increase in profitability and revenue. The company’s net profit for Q4 FY25 rose by 46.3 percent to ₹113.4 crore, compared to ₹77.53 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Revenue from operations for the same period stood at ₹1,308.28 crore, marking a 57 percent year-on-year growth from ₹832.7 crore in Q4 FY24. Sequentially, the company showed strong improvement, as it had reported a net profit of ₹65 crore and revenue of ₹767.6 crore in the third quarter of FY25. While the company has a strong presence as a PSU, specific details regarding individual “famous investors” are generally not highlighted in its standard operational disclosures.
