RailTel Corporation of India Ltd., a Navratna PSU, has announced the receipt of a significant Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Inspector General of Registration (IGR), Government of Maharashtra. The order, secured in consortium with M/s Ashoka Buildcon Ltd, involves the selection of a Managed Service Provider (MSP) for the modernization of the offices of the IGR and Controller of Stamps. This domestic project is scheduled to be executed by March 19, 2032.

The contract is expected to have a substantial financial impact, estimated at approximately Rs 1,136.18 Crores over a five-year period. This estimation is based on an accepted rate of Rs 24.75 per scanned page, with an average annual volume of 9.18 Crore pages. This major win significantly bolsters RailTel’s order book, which has seen several recent additions in early 2026, including projects for the Ministry of Defence and various state education departments.

RailTel is one of India’s largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers, owning a pan-India optic fiber cable network that covers approximately 70% of the population. Incorporated in 2000, it provides ICT solutions, broadband services under the “RailWire” brand, and modernizes railway signalling systems. In February 2026 alone, the company has secured multiple orders, including a Rs 92.91 Crore ICT educational lab project from the Delhi Government and a Rs 35.54 Crore signalling project for the North Central Railway.

For the third quarter ended December 31, 2025, RailTel reported a revenue of Rs 913 Crores, representing a 19% year-on-year growth compared to Rs 768 Crores in the same period last year. However, net profit for the quarter saw a marginal decline of 4.1%, falling to Rs 62.4 Crores from Rs 65.1 Crores YoY, primarily due to margin pressures. As of early 2026, the Government of India remains the primary promoter with a 72.84% stake. Other notable investors include Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) at 3.68% and various mutual funds holding a 0.30% stake.
