The Board of Directors of Tata Chemicals Limited has approved a significant capital investment of ₹100 Crores to debottleneck salt capacity at its plant in Mithapur. This strategic move aims to increase the production of Iodised Vacuum Salt Dried (IVSD) by 82,500 TPA (Tonnes Per Annum) to meet growing market demand. The expansion is expected to be completed over the next 12 months and will be financed through various options, including internal accruals.

During 2025, Tata Chemicals focused on strengthening its supply chain and enhancing operational efficiencies across its global manufacturing sites. The company remained a dominant player in the global Soda Ash market, despite facing pricing pressures and geopolitical uncertainties. In late 2025, the company also monitored the implementation of India’s new Labour Codes, assessing a non-recurring financial impact of approximately ₹54 Crores related to revised wage definitions and gratuity liabilities.

The Mithapur facility currently has an existing capacity of 1.60 MTPA with a high utilization rate of 92%. Beyond its core industrial chemicals, the company’s specialty products division, including Rallis India Limited, continues to provide crop care and seed solutions to the agricultural sector. Recent updates indicate the company is actively navigating “adverse market conditions” in its North American business while maintaining a strong balance sheet with a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.36.

In the standalone financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, the company reported revenue of ₹1,254 Crores, an increase of 4.15% from the previous quarter’s ₹1,204 Crores and up 2.87% from ₹1,219 Crores in the same quarter last year. Standalone net profit stood at ₹48 Crores, a decline from ₹73 Crores QoQ and ₹115 Crores YoY. Notable institutional investors and promoters of the company include Tata Sons Pvt Ltd, which maintains a significant holding as part of the broader Tata Group structure.
