Castrol India Limited has officially announced the appointment of Mr. Saugata Basuray as the new Managing Director of the company, effective from 1 June 2026. The decision was approved by the Board of Directors during their meeting held on 28 May 2026, following a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Mr. Basuray, who currently serves as the Whole-time Director and Interim Chief Executive Officer, has been appointed for a term of five consecutive years, pending approval from shareholders and other necessary statutory bodies.

As per the official disclosure, Mr. Saugata Basuray brings over 26 years of extensive experience in sales, marketing, and business leadership to this new role. Having joined Castrol India as a Management Trainee in 1999, his career has spanned multiple geographies, including significant leadership roles in the Philippines, Indonesia, and the UK, where he contributed to the global success of the Castrol Edge brand. Prior to his current interim leadership, he was instrumental in driving the company’s B2C business transformation and expanding distribution networks across rural India. Mr. Basuray is not related to any existing Director or Key Managerial Personnel of the company and has not been debarred from holding office by any regulatory authority.

The company, a subsidiary of the bp group, focuses on providing high-performance lubricants and fluid solutions.
