Indo National Limited, formerly known as Nippo Batteries Co. Ltd., is a prominent Indian manufacturer of dry-cell batteries and a provider of diverse consumer goods under the “Nippo” brand. Established in 1972 and headquartered in Chennai, the company has transitioned from a legacy battery manufacturer into a multi-category consumer brand, maintaining a significant presence in the Indian consumer electronics and home care markets.

In a recent development, Indo National Limited has invested ₹99.88 Lakhs in Medcuore Medical Solutions Private Ltd (MMSPL), increasing its stake in the entity to 59.16%. This strategic investment, involving the acquisition of 604 shares at ₹16,536 each, is intended to facilitate business growth and generate revenue through the expansion of MMSPL’s air monitoring and purification business. Additionally, in May 2026, the company launched the “Nippo THOR Max” alkaline battery segment, specifically designed for high-drain devices such as gaming controllers and smart home electronics.

The company is managed by the Reddy and Khaitan families and has been actively diversifying its portfolio beyond batteries to include LED lighting, electrical accessories, and mosquito repellent products. While the company faces competitive pressure and has seen a decline in profitability during the recent quarter, it continues to focus on modernization and market reach through initiatives like sales force automation.
