Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has officially acquired Tumkur II RE Transmission Limited (TRETL) on May 29, 2026. The acquisition was executed under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route, granting POWERGRID full ownership of the project special purpose vehicle to establish a transmission system strengthening project in Karnataka for integrating 2.7 GW of renewable energy potential.
The acquisition involves the transfer of TRETL from the Bid Process Coordinator, PFC Consulting Limited, for an aggregate value of approximately Rs. 15.46 Crore. This consideration includes 10,000 equity shares at par value, along with the existing assets and liabilities of the entity. The project will operate on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis, featuring a 400 kV D/c transmission line and necessary augmentation works at the Tumkur-II Pooling Station. As per the regulatory requirements, the entity was incorporated on September 24, 2025, and is currently in the pre-operational phase, having recorded no turnover to date.
