RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. has officially announced that it has secured a significant new work order from Munitions India Limited. This contract focuses on the technological enhancement of critical communication infrastructure, specifically involving the upgradation of MPLS bandwidth for the existing COMNET 2.0 system across 45 units under 7 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and the Department of Defence (DoO) in New Delhi. The company expects to complete the execution of this project by June 14, 2027.

In the broader context of its operations throughout 2025, RailTel continued to solidify its position as a “Navratna” Central Public Sector Enterprise and a premier ICT provider in India. The company operates one of the country’s largest neutral telecom infrastructure networks, spanning over 63,000 route kilometers of optical fiber. Beyond its core connectivity services, RailTel has been actively involved in diverse digital transformation projects, including the implementation of IP-based video surveillance systems and “e-Office” services for the Government of India. Significant developments in 2025 included a strategic five-year partnership with Microsoft to drive AI innovation in the government sector and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NBCC for collaborative data center development.

Regarding its financial performance, the company reported a robust financial year in 2025. In the fourth quarter of FY 2024-25, RailTel achieved a net profit of Rs. 113.4 crore, marking a 46.3% increase compared to Rs. 77.5 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Revenue from operations for the same period stood at Rs. 1,308.28 crore, reflecting a 57% year-on-year growth from Rs. 832.7 crore. For the full fiscal year 2024-25, the company recorded its highest-ever operating revenue of Rs. 3,478 crore, representing a 35% year-on-year growth. As of March 2025, institutional interest in the company included holdings by entities such as BlackRock, Inc. and the General Insurance Corporation of India.
