HCL Technologies Limited (HCLTech) has formally notified the stock exchanges regarding a strategic minority investment of INR 1,427.25 crores in Axonwise Private Limited, widely known as Sarvam AI. This disclosure, made pursuant to Regulation 30(4) of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosures Requirements) Regulations 2015, outlines HCLTech’s commitment to acquiring a 10.46% stake in the Bengaluru-based sovereign AI company.

The investment is designed to bolster HCLTech’s capabilities in developing industry-specific language models and enterprise AI solutions. By leveraging Sarvam AI’s research and full-stack sovereign AI platform—which includes infrastructure for training and inference, as well as frontier models in text, speech, and vision—HCLTech aims to accelerate the deployment of secure, compliant, and cost-effective AI solutions for its global client base across sectors such as banking, insurance, defense, and government technology.

HCLTech remains a global leader in IT and business services, deeply focused throughout 2025 on expanding its full-stack AI portfolio and integrating generative AI into its service offerings. In 2025, the company continued to prioritize large deal acquisitions, leveraging its deep enterprise transformation expertise. Sarvam AI, meanwhile, emerged as a critical player in India’s sovereign AI mission during 2025, notably collaborating with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to integrate multilingual and voice-based AI capabilities into essential public services.

For the fiscal year 2025, HCLTech reported a consolidated revenue of INR 1,17,055 crores, representing a 6.5% year-on-year increase from the previous fiscal year. Profit After Tax (PAT) for the same period grew by 10.8% to INR 17,399 crores. The company maintains a robust ownership structure, with major stakes held by Vama Sundari Investments (Delhi) Private Limited (44.3%) and HCL Holdings Private Limited (16.5%).
